Our BJJ program runs classes six days a week across all skill levels. Fundamentals classes focus on core positions, escapes, and submissions — taught in a structured, drill-heavy format designed so beginners thrive and experienced practitioners sharpen their foundations.
Advanced classes assume a working knowledge of the basics and cover competition strategies, advanced guard systems, and live positional sparring. Open mat sessions give you unstructured time to flow with training partners at your own pace.
Belt promotions are earned — not bought. Progress is recognised when you're ready, guided by our black belt coaching staff led by Alex MacDonald and TJ Grant.
Muay Thai at Grant's is technical-first. Classes are structured around proper form, timing, and combinations before power. You'll develop real striking skill whether your goal is fitness, self-defence, or stepping in the ring.
Beginner classes cover stance, guard, basic strikes, and footwork. Intermediate and advanced sessions focus on combinations, clinch work, pad rounds, and controlled sparring.
No experience needed to start. Hand wraps required — available for purchase at the gym.
The kids program is designed to meet children where they are and grow with them. Classes cover foundational BJJ and movement skills, but the emphasis is always on character — showing up, trying hard, respecting classmates, and having fun.
Our coaches have extensive experience working with youth athletes and understand how to hold attention, build confidence in shy kids, and keep the energy positive for everyone.
Sibling discounts available. No martial arts experience required — just a willingness to learn and move.
American Jiu Jitsu (AJJ) and No-Gi grappling at Grant's covers the full modern submission wrestling ruleset — including leg entanglements, heel hooks, and the reaping positions that are central to today's competition meta.
Classes focus on building sequences from position, understanding when to attack vs. defend, and developing the mechanical clarity to apply technique under pressure. Jacob Moses teaches Friday evenings with an emphasis on creative guard play and passing chains.
Recommended for athletes with at least some grappling experience. Blue belt or equivalent background suggested.
Grant's MMA team is built around a core group of young, ambitious fighters competing under the Fighting League Atlantic (FLA) banner. These athletes train daily across BJJ, Muay Thai, and wrestling, bringing it all together under the watchful eye of coaches who've done it at the highest level.
The team is mentored directly by TJ Grant — former UFC #1 lightweight contender with a 21–5 professional record, 8–3 in the UFC. TJ brings hard-won knowledge from the top of the sport and transfers it to every athlete who trains here. Having a legend in your corner every day isn't something most gyms can offer. Grant's can.
Classes cover cage and fence work, takedown defence under pressure, ground-and-pound control, and intelligent sparring protocols that build real fight IQ. A background in BJJ and/or striking is required before joining the MMA team.
Roll Like a Girl is built around Grant's women's jiu-jitsu team — a growing group of athletes who compete, improve, and hold each other accountable. Whether you've been training for years or have never touched a gi, this is a place where women develop real skill without the ego that sometimes comes with mixed rooms.
Classes are folded into the regular BJJ schedule, with the women's team training alongside and supporting each other through fundamentals, drilling, positional work, and live rolling. The culture here is tough but never intimidating — coaches and teammates actively create space for women to thrive at every level.
No experience required. Come in, try a class, and see for yourself why the women's team at Grant's keeps growing.
Our mats aren't an afterthought — they're the single most important investment in the gym. We use professional-grade tatami-surface jigsaw puzzle mats with a 40mm compressed EVA foam core, the same standard used at IBJJF World Championships and UFC training facilities.
The tatami weave on the surface provides exactly the right amount of grip — enough to hold position through scrambles, not so much that it tears skin on stand-ups. Underneath, the high-density foam core absorbs impact correctly: it compresses under dynamic load (throws, takedowns, sprawls) but doesn't bottom out. That combination protects joints, reduces cumulative fatigue, and means you can train more days in a row without your knees paying for it.
The foam is closed-cell, which matters more than most people realize. Closed-cell EVA doesn't absorb sweat or bacteria into the core — it stays at the surface where it can be properly disinfected. We clean the mats after every session with hospital-grade antimicrobial solution. The mats you train on here will outlast you at this gym.
Cheap mats are a false economy. Thin foam bottoms out — your knees hit the concrete subfloor on every takedown. Slippery surfaces spike injury rates on stand-ups and scrambles. Porous foam traps bacteria and is impossible to fully sanitize, which is how skin infections spread through gyms. We've seen what happens at facilities that cut corners here and we made a different choice from day one.
Good mats let you train longer careers. They're an investment in every person who steps on them.
The striking side of the gym is stocked the same way we stock everything else — with equipment that performs under real training loads, not just looks good in photos. Every piece is chosen by coaches who've used it in their own competition careers.
Whether you're working combinations, building conditioning, or dialling in timing — the tools are here.
Two separate, fully private shower rooms mean you can train at lunch, clean up, and get back to your day without a second thought. No waiting, no communal setup, no awkwardness — just get in, get out.
Both showers run full hot water with plenty of pressure. Each room has a bench, coat hooks, and a private changing area attached. Soap and shampoo dispensers are stocked daily.
This matters practically for anyone fitting training into a work schedule. Gym bag, train, shower, done. The midday BJJ class crowd relies on this setup every weekday.
